Yup, the neighbors did the same thing as us, removed all their trees. Plus the other neighbor had them remove the ones he wanted gone. It's so bright out there...like someone turned on all the lights. In some ways it's nice, or potentially so...but for the most part it just looks weird.

Trimming the branches...just pruning...right? 3/25
So this morning I was awakened by the sound of chainsaws - like a bad memory.I wasn't sure what to expect when I looked out the back window but figured it was at the neighbor's house; the neighbor who was originally concerned about the broken tree ending up on his shed. He had said he was going to remove some of his trees.
Well, it wasn't there. It was the neighbor directly in back...one of the original ("pre-project") neighbors.
They were trimming the branches and tops and grinding them in the chipper.
It was the same company that did our trees. I could only imagine what was going to come.
Sure enough, the next day....

Ding Ding Ding Ding etc. March 23, 2009
Sometimes, while driving home from work at 11PM or so, you've resigned to the fact that you didn't get a picture of the day (happens to me a lot).
Then suddenly lights start flashing and bells start ringing and in your face, if you have a camera handy (which I always do),
is a photo opportunity knocking...or uhh ...tooting.

Day 79 - March 20 - Take A Hike
I went on a little hike at Pratt's Farm. It was around noonish though so I had to cut it short and get home and ready for work. At one point I took a side path up a hill and I think I startled something...was thinking it might have been one or more coyotes but I never saw anything. I heard a weird noise, not quite a bark...not sure how to describe it...almost like a startled grunt, and a rustling in the trees. It was an area of thick pines, so visibility was nil. So the rest of my hike I kept looking back and taking pictures behind me. I felt like maybe I was being watched. Nothing showing up in any of the photos so far though.
Note: A friend told me deer will make a grunt noise when startled...as will bears, but we have no bears here as far as I know. lol

mahhhch 18...getting caught up.
What I like best about these pictures is that they actually were taken on 3/18, not just thereabouts as many have been lately.
In Irfanview, when you save a photo in grayscale (by ticking the checkbox to do so as you're saving), it says "Don't Forget!". If you forget, every photo you save after that will be saved in grayscale until you remember again to uncheck the box.
Well, I'm pretty sure I remembered (eventually), and I know I intentionally saved some in grayscale. But I think out of these three, only the one below was intentional. I'm very happy with how the above two came out though.
