More Big Birds

I was pulled off the road trying to get a good shot of a heron (got a couple "ok" shots)...
Several yards ahead of me (to my Aussie and European friends, that's meters) I saw a huge hawk land in the brush by the edge of the road. I could only see movement in there from time to time, figured she was catching a mouse or something. After awhile she came flying out of the bushes. In the picture it looks like she might be carrying a critter of some sort but I'm not sure (the pic was taken in a hurry and through my windshield)...
And obeying all traffic laws, ie; using turn signals, keeping right (to my Aussie and European friends, that's "right"), proceeded down the street...
...and landed in the tree down the road a bit. I'm not sure if she was enjoying lunch or not, as you can see she was facing away from me, but she didn't stay there long at all.

MHS Class of 1979, 30 year reunion!

A good time was had by all. I'm very happy I went. What made it better than previous reunions was that many of us have connected prior to it on Facebook so there were many more familiar faces there, having already seen their pictures. Plus our name tags had our senior pictures on them which helped identify people even if the names didn't ring a bell.
The slightly down side is, I was one of two people who were supposed to take a lot of pictures, yet I got shy and only took a dozen or so photos, only ending up with about 10 possibly usable ones. Luckily though, the other person took a lot of pics, and other classmates got many good photos as well, which they posted on Facebook. I don't think they'll mind contributing to the slide show.

Not sure I like this new editor. It's very difficult to work with. I'll give it some more time though. This is part of the failed tomato crop. As you can see, there were some fine looking fruits there before the disease destroyed them. *sigh*

Tomatoes

The tomatoes in the garden this year took a fatal turn for the worst, as what i believe was a blight (early AND late from what I've read) caused them to all rot on the vine. In some cases the plants themselves died earlier this summer. I thought it was only because of poor soil, as it's a new garden and some parts of the garden had huge trees growing the previous year.
Better luck next summer (I hope).

262

Saw this sign on the way to an investigation tonight. Don't know why it struck me funny.
