Speedy Red Car
Made this as part of a photo assignment, using slow shutter speed to express motion.
f16; 1/13 sec; 100mm; .3 exposure compensation (only because I forgot to change it back from a previous photo. oops, but didn't hurt anything.)

How I Quit Smoking and Lived (so far)
Today is Cinco de Mayo. It is also the 7th anniversary of the day I quit smoking.I didn't quit because it was Cinco de Mayo though - that's just silly. I quit when I quit and for the next couple years I struggled to remember the anniversary and then it finally dawned on me it was cinco de mayo, so now i can always remember. It took a few more years before I could remember the year I quit. 2004. It's nice to no longer have to go
through old emails to figure it out.
So to quit, it was a piece of cake, or maybe not. I didn't know it at the time but I believe my life was on the line. I didn't get the message from the waking dream I had earlier - more on that later.
I got a real nasty chest cold that just would not go away, no matter what! I couldn't even start to talk without going into a horrible coughing fit, so bad I couldn't even get a breath in between coughs. One day I realized if I went a ½-hour to an hour (if I could manage it) without a cigarette, things improved a little. Hmm.

Also from the correct date. Somehow I wonder if I should have not been so honest...now having confessed, you may think the whole year has been a farce...perhaps I took all the pictures last year. lol
Anyway, the steering wheel cover in my truck...removed from my Blazer when I got rid of it. I always carry an item over from the old vehicle to the new one...never thought about it, but I'm realizing now that's what I do. Cool tradition though, I'll certainly continue it.

Then back to Plymouth
...for the fireworks. I have to admit they were probably better than I originally told people, after seeing my video (see very bottom of this post). It was my first time seeing them in Plymouth.

I think I was more preoccupied with trying to get good photos of them, which I didn't do so well.

The whole atmosphere was great though, as well as hanging with friends.

Traffic was absolutely horrible afterwards, so we walked around by the waterfront for awhile.

Police boats (Harbor Masters) standing by while the many boats were taken out of the water and loaded up on their trailers.

There were a few bands playing in the few bars around. Local bands I assume but sounded great and added to the whole atmosphere.

After enduring the traffic, we finally got home at about midnight.

The Blazer 1/30
I was going to fix this up and drive it as a beater, but it's too far gone. The body rot is very extensive and being out in the back yard all this time, I'm sure the rust goes beyond just body rot. Sadly, I am going to junk it. I'd love to have an SUV again, but actually I would rather have a pick-up truck again. Right now though, I can't afford to have two vehicles on the road anyway.
I can't even get this truck started (it used to run great), so that I can get it out of the way of the tree people who are coming to remove 30 trees from the backyard. They're using a crane - maybe they can move the blazer for me. I don't think a ramp truck can even get at it right now.
