Check out and join/follow my new blog, "Saturdays!" I will try to post a photo once a week that is hopefully relevant to that week, as well as a weekly camera-phone photo and an occasional (perhaps monthly) portrait or self-portrait.
What do you think of the idea? The blog itself?

"Take a picture of me"

A couple weeks ago, we were walking along the Cape Cod Canal. Seeing my camera, he thought I was possibly a news photographer and said "hey, take a picture of me". Kicking back after a morning of fishing, Kevin was "watching the water". He lives near the canal and so he fishes there often (daily I think). He said get there earlier in the morning if we want to see fish being caught.

A few photos from 6/1's storms (on my FB page)

Weather

My area did not have any serious weather, except some vivid lightning. The central and western part of the state had some tornadoes, with serious damage and four deaths.

3 - We like the moooooon! The final chapter.

I, Wayne Valler, hereby solemnly swear to never post another photo of the moon in my Project 365, for the remainder of 2009, no matter what, the one in this post being the final one.

"Blocked – Identifying and Remedying Shooter’s Block"

"Blocked – Identifying and Remedying Shooter’s Block"

Good article I think (click anywhere above). "Cheating" like crazy these days :).
I know it's the fact that winter is setting in (I just want to hibernate like I believe my ancestors did) as well as it being the holiday season, working overtime, and fighting off a cold.
I'm also anticipating the purchase of a new camera (Merry Christmas AND Happy Birthday to me from me) but I don't know if that has given me shooters block actually.
Anyway, 21 days left for this blog. Woohoo! I'm thinking the next one will be a little different, perhaps less stringent than "365". I'll definitely post a link, especially since it might not be on Blogger this time.

  • I think next time around, I'm going to do a Project 52. It might still be 365 pictures, but perhaps I'll post it once a week. I dunno, I haven't thought about it THAT much yet.
  • It would seem as if, at least going by what's on my computer and not going through my CD and DVD backups, I have not taken a photo on 11/10, at least since 2004. I am kind of curious about this though, as it's kind of bizarre, so I will check the backups soon and update.
  • This is a picture from the future...equally bizarre, huh?

MHS Class of 1979, 30 year reunion!

A good time was had by all. I'm very happy I went. What made it better than previous reunions was that many of us have connected prior to it on Facebook so there were many more familiar faces there, having already seen their pictures. Plus our name tags had our senior pictures on them which helped identify people even if the names didn't ring a bell.
The slightly down side is, I was one of two people who were supposed to take a lot of pictures, yet I got shy and only took a dozen or so photos, only ending up with about 10 possibly usable ones. Luckily though, the other person took a lot of pics, and other classmates got many good photos as well, which they posted on Facebook. I don't think they'll mind contributing to the slide show.

Forgive me. I downloaded a trial of Photoshop Elements 8 and have been playing around with it. This is an ordinary spotlight turned black and white, then added the blue color and slight lens flare.

The flower, from a few days ago, after cropping and the usual post processing stuff, I added "Plastic Wrap".

11:09 PM ~ ISO 800, f2.71, shutter speed 2 sec., post: straightened, resized and sharpened (always sharpen after resizing)

Same picture, enhanced...increased color saturation, brightness, contrast, straightened, resized, unsharp mask and sharpened. and possibly some other stuff I don't remember doing, as I saw fit.

Another blues festival...this one right in my town, but I won't be going to this one. Too much money. I actually took the picture because I kept seeing the sign and forgetting the details.

Then back to Plymouth

...for the fireworks. I have to admit they were probably better than I originally told people, after seeing my video (see very bottom of this post). It was my first time seeing them in Plymouth.

I think I was more preoccupied with trying to get good photos of them, which I didn't do so well.

The whole atmosphere was great though, as well as hanging with friends.

Traffic was absolutely horrible afterwards, so we walked around by the waterfront for awhile.

Police boats (Harbor Masters) standing by while the many boats were taken out of the water and loaded up on their trailers.

There were a few bands playing in the few bars around. Local bands I assume but sounded great and added to the whole atmosphere.

After enduring the traffic, we finally got home at about midnight.

Another of my "oil paintings"

Another throw-away saved by the oil painting effect. I'm quite the arteest eh?

Extras - EOS Rebel G 35mm

Just a couple photos for the sake of showing them and to make up for a couple missed days so far. These are taken at various times with my "new-used" 35mm camera.

My car decorated for winter.

In Bridgewater, MA after a snowstorm.

In Middleboro, Long Point Road by Little Quittacus Pond

A little knick-knack I tend to photograph often for some reason

Valentine's Day (*yuck*) - Birthday Celebration - 2/14

Sally (Allyson's sister), visiting from Alabama, asked me to attend the birthday celebration of her niece with her (She was killed along with her boyfriend, in a car accident. She would have been 19). It was very nice and we had a nice time.
Sally's son was very tired so I gave them a ride back to the house they were staying at. He perked up a little when I mentioned the town hall, as we were driving by it, has been investigated by paranormal investigators. He woke up completely when I told him that I'm a paranormal investigator too.
At the party, each table had a different photo of Keri on it. This is a picture of the display at our table.

After the tree removal... Feb 10

So...big changes here, now that the wilderness has been tamed. Big changes.

I feel like I live in a fishbowl when I'm out there now. Lot's of shrubbery is in order, new trees, fences, a vegetable garden, a shed...maybe a pool. That would be sweet.

Here's the album at my Fotki of all the pics I took (well, most of them) - click the picture to see the "before" version posted on Feb 7 (or just scroll down to Feb. 7). I took some video too but I haven't done anything with it yet.

Ally and Cheyenne, and some beautiful wallpaper - 1/25

So say hello to my wall. Don't be shy, I talk to it all the time. I know it'll be a shame but I hope to get busy tearing it down (the paper, not the wall -ed) and painting the wall sometime soon. I have lots of photos I want to frame and hang up and they would look better on a clean solid color. Yup. Beautiful wallpaper will have to go.
