Dumbass

I dug up some lilac bushes, that are spreading like wildfire, for someone. A couple days later, it took me awhile to figure out why the pond pump stopped. Hmmm.
I'm not paranoid, but I'm pretty sure all the fish were laughing at me.

Little Sons-a-Guns

What did they accomplish by doing this? This is my pond liner about a foot or so down, so I can't fill the pond the rest of the way till I fix it. There's more too, not just what's in the picture here. Maybe they couldn't get out. Ewww, maybe they're still in there...way down. Awww, I hope not.

Near Disaster

A couple days ago I went out to check on the pond and found the water was no longer running. That means everything was frozen. So yesterday I went out with some hot water and melted a hole in the ice to get to the pump. What apparently happened is the ice in the waterfall caused the water to overflow causing the pond to drain to the level of the pump. So luckily there was a space of about a foot between the water and the top of the ice.
Since the waterfall and hose to it are now frozen solid, I used a pruner to cut the hose and rigged up the diverter below to keep the water from shooting straight up in the air (which my gloves and coat can verify would happen), then lowered the pump a tiny bit. Checked on it today and all is well.
I think the snowstorm tomorrow will bring the water level up quite a bit so I can just top it off in the spring.

No I wasn't parked there.

I really need to get out there and do some shooting. You'd think with all the fall foliage, and Hallowayne, etc., I'd be a regular photo factory.

Elephant Ear

...in the bigger pond. This and a Canna are the newest additions to the water garden.
The small pond is being phased out I think. It was down to two fish, so I moved them to the big pond. I'm sure they are MUCH happier now. I then kept the small pond temporarily because I have no room in the big one for the water lily that's there. I have some work to do, thinning plants, etc.
When I have the time and money, I hope to make a new, even bigger pond to replace both of the current ones.
